“Welcome to the Village” Storybook
About the Project:
“Welcome to the Village” was a small booklet mailed to 50,000 new sponsors (and counting!) in the United States to celebrate their decision to sponsor a child living in poverty. The goal was to set accurate expectations of the sponsorship journey and position a sponsor’s role within a community of impact.
I wrote the narrative after completing interviews with Compassion staff and volunteers around the world. Interview inputs were then aligned against journey-based insights and organizational goals for new sponsor messaging.
I collaborated in a global, remote environment with a cross functional team to bring the story to life through illustration and narrative design.

Reviews
“I cried on the page about the pastor taking the child in the hallway and praying with them instead of punishing them. What a great example of God’s love for us, and His mercy and grace beyond measure”
“I didn’t realize the full impact my sponsorship would have on one child. The idea of being part of a group helping her and how it demonstrates 1 Corinthians 13 really speaks to me. Thank you!”
“I left my copy in our living room so friends and family can read the important message of God’s love”
“This is amazing! What an amazing testimony to the people God calls through Compassion. I absolutely love the book and everything that was put into it. We all have our part to play in God’s story.”
